Child Abuse

More often, the couple try to impose their will on others, resorting to threats and insults negative criticism. However, all this is done in the name of cooperation and love. It is a fact that emotional abuse is a common denominator in many marriages. However, the irony is that most of the time both the aggressor and the victim is not aware of the fact that their marriage is marked by emotional abuse.

This is because emotional abuse often means one thing to another victim and the aggressor. Both the aggressor and the victim plays an important role in this vicious cycle. On the one hand, the abuser is a coward and a bully, at the same time. He / she exposes her partner to inhumane treatment because he / she is sure that there will be serious consequences for this act on his part. Moreover, the victim, often due to ignorance or for the sake of marriage plays the role of a passive martyr.

What is needed is a greater awareness by both spouses to save others from this common defect. Any constructive relationship should be based on mutual respect and understanding and a genuine concern for others views, beliefs and opinions.

What is emotional abuse?

Emotional abuse often comes in the form of a bulky package. It is a variety of behaviors designed to strike at the heart and soul of the victim to gain effective control over him / her. Different attributes of emotional abuse are:

a) Isolation

Many times the abuser attempts to socially isolate the victim so that he / she depends on itself that ensures basic needs and social aspirations. A number of restrictions and controls imposed on the victim, to gain control over their social life. It is the abuser who often decide on the people with whom the victim will interact and friends with whom he / she is socialized. Any external social support system imposes a threat and a challenge to the authority who abuse the victim. The abuser is often deliberately targeted the victim's friends and relatives to drive them away. The abuser may resort to emotional blackmail, mood swings, temper tantrums and denial of communication to impose their will on the victim. He / she may appeal to the active form of spying on the victim and can openly question their loyalty to the marriage. This is always accompanied by excessive demand for him / her. The chain of events may include control over the victim, depriving him / her of any transport or the media, asking about their daily routine, criticizing their friends and family and so on.

b) Verbal abuse

On the verbal abuse that often means screaming, shouting and calling names, which is very true. However, many times the abuser may not be so evident in her / modus operandi and may use a subtle approach used implicitly insulting or humiliating remarks. The basic motive is to undermine the victim's sense of self-esteem and breaking his self-esteem. Verbal abuse can include insulting and criticizing the victim's family, insults, sarcasm, threats, guilt, etc.

c) Financial abuse

Financial abuse is an extension of emotional abuse where the abuser uses money as a tool to gain control over the victim. The abuser may deny financial freedom and support to the victim or place unrealistic financial responsibilities on their shoulders. The abuser may present an irresponsible financial behavior in order to disrupt or confuse the victim.

Emotional abuse is worse than physical abuse

Although emotional abuse, unlike physical abuse does not leave us with eyes swollen and bruised face, it is still worse than physical abuse. The victim often does not realize he or she is a victim of abuse and may have his mind and soul beaten to the point where he / she may consider himself / herself responsible for her plight.

Divorce is a solution?

In the long, emotional abuse can seriously damage physical and mental health of a person. Under British law, emotional abuse is a valid reason for divorce and is under the purview of irrational behavior. You have every right to protect themselves and their children from long-term damage of emotional abuse, even if it is going for a divorce.
